The Scanned PDF Problem
In old Amex statements (or scans of print-outs) the text isn't selectable — it's an image. The PDF text extractor finds nothing. The solution: OCR first, then convert. Our tool also uses an OCR-tolerant parser, but for best accuracy run OCR first.Method 1: Google Drive OCR (Free)

Best Practices for OCR Accuracy
- Scan at 300 DPI (low resolution = wrong text). Use clean paper without folds. After OCR, scroll through once and check — are the numbers right? If amounts are wrong, fix them manually (easy in Excel)
