What is the Foreign Transaction Fee?
When you pay in a foreign currency (or with a foreign merchant), the bank charges 2–3.5% extra. In India it's called the "mark-up fee" — rates like Axis 3.5%, HDFC 3.5% and Amex 2.7%.

How to Avoid
